Two women are killed every week as a result of Domestic Violence in England and Wales. Crimestoppers are running a campaign so that you can anonymously pass on your concerns if you believe anyone is suffering domestic violence. You do not have to give your name. Hertfordshire Volunteers Honoured

At the 2008 Crimestoppers National Conference, two members of the Hertfordshire Board received national 'Volunteer of the Year' awards. David Greenreceived the top award to recognise his great efforts onyouth projects in Hertfordshire whilst Peter Parsons took third prize for his work as secretary and webmaster. Hertfordshire are one of thirty nine regional boards in the UK and we are delighted with the recognition two of our members have received.

Chairman Peter Camilletti said: 'This is a great achievement and well deserved. To get two national awards in the top three is wonderful. The Board of Hertfordshire Crimestoppers is a team of excellent people and this is a great boost for us all' 		{short description of image}

Anonymous witnesses

We want to inform the public that Crimestoppers information-gathering should be not be confused with anonymous witnesses. Our charity is not involved in recruiting anonymous witnesses – our business is about taking anonymous information from the public about crimes which we then pass onto the police. People telephoning 0800 555 111 are not required to give evidence in court nor are they required to become witnesses. We want to know what you know not who you are.

Our valuable service to law enforcement will continue as it has done for the last 20 years – 17 people are arrested or charged every day thanks to the information passed onto Crimestoppers.
