The 20/20 of Hertfordshire
Crimestoppers - 20 reasons to celebrate 20 years of Crimestoppers.
- The Hertfordshire Board
was formed in January 2005.
- Our Board comprises 12
volunteers who live and/or work in Hertfordshire.
- We launched our first
website in 2005 and achieved a 'hit rate' of 140 per month in the first year.
We re-launched our website with a new look and feel at the end of 2007 - a
website 'hit rate' of 480 per month was achieved over the first four months of
2008. Website hits have quadrupled in the last year.
- We sponsored the
Crimestoppers Rose, launched at the 2006 Hampton Court Flower Show, assisted by
actress Tracy Goodwin (Sergeant June Ackland in 'The Bill').
- We were the first
Crimestoppers Board in the country to conduct an on-line auction for our
fundraising.
- Hertfordshire
Crimestoppers Youth Program has increased awareness of over 5000 students
across the county.
- We received more than
50 calls a month from Hertfordshire residents to the 0800 555 111 line in the
last year.
- Together with the
Students Union, we produced 4,000 packs for students at Hertfordshire
University to help with their safety.
- We conduct training for
police officers to explain the value of anonymous crime reporting for those
people who cannot go to the police.
- We recently took part
in an awareness event at Rickmansworth School, attended by 1000 students, aimed
at personal safety.
- We were featured in
this year's Hertfordshire Policing Plan - in efforts to tackle serious
criminality.
- Sponsors for 20/20
Cricket Match in St Albans Asian community.
- We used Del Boy and
Uncle Albert lookalikes in campaign to increase awareness about stolen
goods.
- We were joint
organisers and beneficiaries of a charity performance at the Abbey Theatre, St
Albans of 'Role Play' by Alan Ayckbourn.
- We obtained financial
support from Total UK in 2006.
- We have been involved
in many joint ventures with Hertswatch, the Hertfordshire branch of
Neighbourhood Watch.
- We are supported by
Hertfordshire Trading Standards in our efforts to target rogue traders.
- Our banner with the
logo and 0800 555 111 number has been displayed alongside the pitch at Watford
Football Club.
- We held a joint
fundraiser with 'Iain Rennie Hospice at Home'.
- We have received
sponsorship from the Big Brother TV programme, who film in Hertfordshire.
