Community Cricket Match - Sunday 8th August 2010

Hertfordhire Crimestoppers will once again be sponsoring the annual cricket match between the Herts Police and members of the local community in Watford.

Members of the community in Watford are invited to attend a fun cricket day in Watford next week - which has been given the support of England international cricketing legend - Monty Panesar.

The cricket match and fun day will take place on Sunday August 8th from 1 pm until 6 pm at Watford Town Cricket Club, Woodside, Horseshoe Lane, Watford.

Unfortunately, Mr Panesar will not be able to attend the event due to other commitments but has fully supported the initiative. He said: "Sport is an excellent way of bringing communities and people from all walks of life together and what the police are doing to engage further with the community in Watford is admirable. I hope that day is enjoyed by all and I am sure it will be a great success."

Other attractions include a bouncy castle and there will also be advice and help on people wanting to join Hertfordshire Constabulary as police officers, staff , volunteers or members of the special Constabulary.

Sergeant Irfan Ishaq, from Hertfordshire Constabulary, who helped to organise the event said: "We are very much looking forward to the match and other activities which will be taking place throughout the day. Prizes will be awarded to the players with the highest score in runs and wickets. Crimestoppers are sponsoring the ‘man of the match’ award.
