North Herts College Fearless Awareness Program
Hertfordshire Crimestoppers are running a program in Stevenage to make young people aware that they can report crime anonymously where they can not for some reason go to the police.
This is being delivered through Schools, Youth Clubs and North Herts College. These events are based on FEARLESS.ORG, Crimestoppers for Young People. The event was organised by Jodie Martinelli, a Fearless Champion, at North Herts college in partnership with Hertfordshire Constabulary.
The day started with a Crime Scene and talking to students about FEARLESS.ORG and how to report a crime anonymously by either by calling 0800 555 111 or by using the web site. Crimestoppers representatives and the Police explained their roles and relationships.
This was followed by the NHC Drama Group, who spontaneously performed a fight scene ( invisible theatre), with the perpetrators being arrested by the Police. Following the performance the Police interviewed the students to see if they could give descriptions of what they saw. The drama students gave an explanation of what had happened and how this led to a stabbing, the subject of the crime scene the students witnessed on arrival at the College. Crimestoppers’ representatives spoke to students about reporting what they saw through FEARLESS.ORG.
This was an excellent example of a real life conflict, realistically portrayed and well received by the students. This was followed by the Starboys who gave a great dance performance.
Thank you to North Herts College and also the Hertfordshire Constabulary who helped to make the day a success.
