Certificates were recently awarded to pupils from Fearnhill School in Letchworth and The Priory School in Hitchin for their part in The North Herts Respect project which ran from April to July 2009.
Pupils were visited at School by North Hertfordshire Homes, North Hertfordshire District Council, Police Officers, Crimestoppers , Hertfordshire Police Schools Community Support Officers and The Crown Prosecution Service .
The students took part in a Crown Court scenario, learnt about ASBOs. good neighbourliness, Anti Social Behaviour and the impact it has on the victim and the offender, how to report crime through Crimestoppers , the work of Local Authorities and overall about respecting other people and property.
The awards ranged from Bronze to Gold depending upon each students achievements on the course and were awarded at both schools by senior members of the agencies involved.
Steve Gibbs, Schools' Police Officer said: "It was excellent to be able to come into the schools with this multi agency approach and receive such good support from the students and Teachers alike. Young people are key members of our society and this was part of the larger programme of work with young people to increase understanding and mutual respect."
